Troubled by debt and the terror of moneylenders, a man committed suicide by jumping in front of a train on the evening of April 19. Family members say that the young man had borrowed some money from a person. In return, the moneylender was charging interest on interest and pressurizing him to pay the money. The police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
40 year old Harishankar, son of Gopichand, resident of Sokhna village of Kotwali Hathras Gate area, used to work in repairing TB and LED. He had borrowed some money from a person some time ago. It is alleged that this person was charging very high interest on the borrowed money. According to the interest, he had increased his loan to Rs 2 lakh. According to the family members of the deceased, this person was pressurizing Harishankar to pay the money every day and also threatened to take care and repay the loan as soon as possible.
Due to this, Harishankar became very worried. On the evening of 19 April, he came out of the house and reached near Sokhna railway crossing on the Kasganj-Mathura railway track of North Eastern Railway. There he committed suicide by jumping in front of the train. Kotwali Hathras Gate police also reached the spot and took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
